Bruce G McBride's Obituary
McBride, Bruce George, passed away January 1, 2015 from a heart attack at Florida Hospital Memorial in Ormond Beach, FL. Bruce was comforted by family members and co workers at the time of his passing. He was 63 years old. Bruce was born in the town of Millville, NJ on December 20, 1951. He was the first son of Delbert Eugene and Margaret Doris McBride. At the age of 17, Bruce enlisted in the US Navy where he dedicated 22 years of his life before retiring in 1992. He moved himself and his family to Florida to live the life of retirement. While retired from the US Navy, Bruce began attending the Police Academy. After graduating from there he moved forward with Daytona Beach Police department where he served 4 years as a police officer. After those 4 years, Bruce joined the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department, in which he dedicated the next 16 years of his life. He retired from the Sheriff’s Department on December 31, 2014. Bruce was an active member of the Girl Scouts for many years. He enjoyed traveling, archery, swimming, and spending time with his family. He loved playing with his grandchildren and enjoyed the many holiday and birthday parties he hosted for family and friends. Bruce dedicated the past 11 years of his life to his wife after she was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis, being her primary caregiver along with being a dedicated Law Enforcement officer. Bruce is survived by his wife Cheryl A. McBride, his son Michael R. McBride, his daughter Melinda J. McBride, his granddaughter Reinah A Garcia, his grandsons Philip A. Carter, Cameron J. Carter, and London M. Carter. His mother Margaret D. McBride, his brother Wade McBride. His sisters Bonnie McBride-Cillo, Marianne McBride and Sharon McManus and his son-in-law Edwin Carter. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday January 9, 2015 at Baldauff Funeral Home 1233 Saxon Blvd. Orange City, FL. There will be a 10 AM Funeral service at Baldauff on Saturday, January 10th. Graveside service will follow at Deltona Memorial Gardens.
