About Brian
First of all, I should introduce myself. I am Siegfried “Siggi” Hauch and I work in the field of Liquid Biopsy research at QIAGEN. Before that I was working with ALERE in San Diego and this is probably the link to Brian whom I was introduced to by Becky Flores during a spontaneous after work birthday party.
In the first moment I met him, I felt a strong mind-relationship in terms of an open minded, friendly, patient, curious scientist and cooking expert. My saying in German is “Hauptsach mir han gudd gess” which means that if the food was right every other problem is solved in coincidence. And indeed, over the following period of time this friendship was intensified leading to the “German Spätzle meets BBQ Ribs” event where I was allowed to use Brian’s kitchen together with another German friend Jo Hevler in kind of an experimental setup. Loads of fun, believe me. On this day, Brian even took me on a ride on his motorbike. That was a great day!
Brian Chambers, indeed, remains for me a brother in spirit and an idol in cooking issues (I am still not able to reinvent his special rib-rub), an open-minded man that I miss big time as a friend.
