Anthony R Freudig's Obituary
Anthony Freudig, 53, of Debary, FL, passed away on May 18, 2023. Tony was born on November 20, 1969 to Thomas Freudig and Linda Smith in Queens, New York. Everyone who knew Tony knew many stories of his childhood in New York, as he loved to share those stories.
Nearly a week after his passing his mom felt relief in knowing he was at peace and with God. She realized this after noticing a cloud that looked like a mother and holding her child while simultaneously her and Tony's song started playing on the radio. Tony was a good soul and these small, yet meaningful, gifts of communication with his loved ones are a gift from God.
Tony joined his wife, Judith Maria Freudig, in matrimony on November 30, 2020, but he has been a part of our family for nearly 20 years. Through ups and downs we were there for each other. Tony and Judy were best friends, and shared so much of themselves with each other. The day Tony passed away they shared laughs, memories of joyful moments, and discussed when and how they would like to hold a reception to celebrate their marriage (as they joined in matrimony mid COVID and all friends and family could not participate). They talked about their journey together and how happy they were with their lives, their family, and their home.
Besides his wedding, one of Tony's favorite moments was when his mom moved from New York less than two hours away. It made him absolutely ecstatic that his mom was close and having the ability to see her often brought him joy.
Tony was proud to be a Marine. He served his country through four foreign combat tours. Whether we were watching old videos or recounting stories, he loved to share his past with his loved ones and friends alike. He undoubtedly had scars from his service, both physical and emotional, which he tried his best to heal.
His hobbies included spending time with his loving wife, painting model planes, watching his fish tank, spending time with his puppies, going for walks, collecting things, working on his house, and trying his luck on scratch tickets (which hobby sometimes paid off). Tony also had a talent for tricking anyone in the car, with him driving, into thinking that would be their tragic demise.
Tony was a big kid with a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone, and would take the shirt off his back to help a stranger in need. His goofy sense of humor made him be great with kids. One of our family's favorite hobbies of Tony was to send us hilarious candid pictures of his wife being goofy on group chat. The images captured by him were treasures, bringing us laughter and joy. He also loved participating in FaceTime with his wife's grandkids.
Tony worked in very diverse environments and regardless of where he was he worked hard and he asked for little in return. As a former Marine, he was no stranger to hard work and would often finish his tasks ahead of time, or made it abundantly clear that he could single handedly accomplish the work a number of unmotivated employees were able to complete. He loved to work with different kinds of people and to interact and share, a mere wave or a nod were not quite what he had in mind.
In addition to his hard work in the workplace, Tony always made sure that his loved ones knew that if they needed help he would be there. Even the hot Florida sun and the chance of heat stroke did not deter him from accomplishing his goals. Every time someone was moving, got new furniture, needed to paint, or whatever was the case he would swiftly volunteer his help. He also helped his wife every chance he got, whether that was cooking, helping around the house, running errands, or joining in prescribed lifestyle changes.
His canine companions were dear to him. Pookie stayed behind with Judy, but Pluto, Fluffy and Lilly are on a long walk with him now.
Viewing and services will be held at Bauldauff Funeral Home on May 31, 2023, the viewing will be held 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, and the service will commence at 1:00 pm. His burial will take place June 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL, 33513. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Judy at 104 1st street, Debary, FL, 32713. The donations will be used to help take care of his family and complete projects he wished to complete at this home.
