Military Funeral Honors
"Honoring Those Who Served" is the title of the Dept. of Defense program for providing dignified military funeral honors to veterans who have defended our nation. Upon a family's request, the law requires that every eligible veteran receive a military funeral honors ceremony to include folding and presenting of the U.S. burial flag and the playing of "Taps". The law defines a military honors detail as consisting of two or more uniformed military persons with at least one member of the veteran's parent service of the armed forces. The Dept. of Defense program calls for the funeral home to request military funeral honors on behalf of the veteran's family.
FREE BURIAL is available at all VA national cemeteries to any deceased veteran of wartime or peacetime service (other than training) who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. Members of the Reserve of the Armed Forces and Air National Guard who die while performing or as a result of performing active duty for training may also be eligible.
FREE BURIAL is also available to an eligible VETERAN'S SPOUSE, minor children and, under certain conditions, to unmarried adult children.
The VA DOES NOT provide or pay for funeral or cremation arrangements, provide transportation to a national cemetery or a twenty-one gun salute military honors service. The staff at Baldauff Family Funeral Home & Crematory are experts in arranging, directing and coordinating all of the details surrounding the death of a veteran or veterans family member. They understand the needs of families who have experienced a loss and offer advice and support to bereaved families who are coping with the death of a loved one. For questions please feel free to call us anytime at 386-775-2101 and we will be happy to assist you.
